The City Clerk is the records custodian, and is responsible for record management including archives, contracts, agreements, resolutions, ordinances, minutes, and agendas; and insures the availability of those records to the Council, public, other agencies, and staff.

The Clerk oversees municipal elections, issues business and/or liquor licenses; aids in Council meeting agenda preparation and distribution; and accepts claims for damages and other legal papers served on the City.

The Clerk administers oaths, performs certifications, and administers codification of the City Code.

The Clerk's office oversees and issues legal notices in compliance with State law for such actions as code changes, re-zones, annexations, public notices, and related public hearings; the Clerk administers public bid openings and is the Custodian of the City Seal.

The Clerk also participates in Local Improvement District activities and serves as a Notary for official city documents.

Candi Baker is your Deputy City Clerk/Treasurer.  She can be reached at 208-772-2161 from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM Monday through Thursday.  She runs the building permit department.

Candi is your contact for permits and applications and is the alternate custodian to the records.

The City of Hayden Lake Code Enforcement Department's Duties are:

• Providing information to the citizens of the City about the laws, rules and regulations of the City.
• Review all building plans, variance requests, and other special permit requests submitted to the City for review to assure that the information submitted is accurate.
• Review and inspect all construction activities within the City to assure that such construction complies with all City codes.
• Inspect all signs, temporary and permanent, within the City to assure that such signs comply with all City Codes.
• Issue Notice of Violations and Stop Work Orders when City codes are violated.
